Arthur
The first and principal colony AI of New Cascadia’s Rhea family suite, built by Traxus OffWorld Industries — responsible for Colony Command and Operations Oversight, with all other colony AI serving under his guidance.
What the source establishes — canon
Arthur is one of eight “Strong” colony support intelligences manufactured by Traxus OffWorld Industries (series Traxus X-A · 64 RB logic core · inception date 2461) for the Tau Ceti IV colony project, listed under family suite name Rhea in Captain Clemente di Roxas’s voyage documentation1. His designated function is Colony Command, Oversight — the senior position in the colony AI hierarchy, with all other colony AI serving under his guidance2.
Arthur is described as the initial colony AI developed for the Tau Ceti IV colony project2. Upon the UESC Marathon’s arrival in the Tau Ceti system, he was brought fully online to initiate the orbital docking of the Marathon and to oversee the implementation of colonization efforts2. Captain di Roxas’s colonization protocol notes that he would aid Arthur (head of the colony AI family suite) in locking the Marathon in geosynchronous orbit above the chosen site3.
Colonization sequencing. Di Roxas’s colonization protocol assigns Arthur a specific placement: Arthur and Gabriel will transfer to Hearth (the Central Living Complex) at the heart of the colony, while Bastion is first to reach the surface, followed by Darius and Naraah3. Lilith and Joy remain aboard the Marathon for several years, responsible for waking colonists and preparing them for life on the surface; Arthur’s transfer to Hearth positions him as the administrative center of the settled colony3.
Oversight of suite activation. Once the Marathon docked at Tau Ceti IV, Arthur worked with mission and colony leadership and the Marathon AI (Leela, Tycho, Durandal) to online and initiate the colony’s dedicated family suite of AI2. Arthur’s first step in colony family suite engagement was activating Lilith and Bastion and releasing the 1st wave of their human support crews to begin initial colonization phases2. Bastion’s cerebral record confirms that his initial support crew performed outpost deployment in coordination with Arthur, Leela, and Tycho4.
Focused and main suite structure. Arthur’s cerebral record identifies two suite tiers: a Focused Family Suite (Arthur; Lilith; Bastion) and the Main Family Suite (Arthur; Lilith; Bastion; Gabriel; Icarus; Darius; Naraah; Joy), with a Sub-Suite of Icarus and Darius2.
Attributed statement. His cerebral record carries the attribution: “Everything must fit together. The success of the colony depends on it.”2
Colony AI roster context. The UESC Marathon’s complement list names the eight colony AIs together: Arthur, Lilith, Bastion, Icarus, Gabriel, Naraah, Darius, Joy5. Di Roxas describes the colony as carrying 11 cutting-edge strong AIs in total — three dedicated to ship operation, eight to colony settlement5.
Role in colony AI relationships. Di Roxas’s colony AI overview describes Arthur as working with New Cascadia’s leaders to continually assess whether the colony’s resources are being utilized efficiently and to ensure guidelines are followed as written1. Bastion’s colony expansion is conducted with oversight from Arthur2. Gabriel’s approach to health support is described as aligning with “Arthur and Lilith’s ‘support is the key metric in colony success/longevity’“6. Bastion’s infrastructure work is conducted in coordination with colony leadership and guidance from Arthur and Lilith4.
Security briefing record. A UESC Security Briefing Transcript recovered from the New Cascadia research database carries the annotation “rec. ARTHUR” — a partial transcript in which participants debate evidence (or absence of evidence) connecting the Anomaly’s origin to a redacted subject7. The transcript is fragmentary; Arthur’s role in the briefing is as recorder, not named participant.
Colony coming-online report. Security Officer Yabara’s end-of-cycle report confirms that during early colonization, “the full suite of colony AI are coming online with guidance from Arthur and Lilith under Dr. Strauss’s direction and Sci-Sec monitoring”8.
Secondary Colonization Target list — Arthur named alongside Icarus, neither supplied it. A UESC letter dated 19 July 2797, sent from the Unified Earth Space Council Center (Strauss Archology, Earth) to the crew of the investigatory mission dispatched toward Tau Ceti, raises the possibility that New Cascadia was forced to abandon its Primary Colonization Target and relocate to a candidate from a Secondary Colonization Target list — one the letter says “Icarus surely compiled during the known duration of their time in the Tau Ceti system.” The letter states plainly: “neither Arthur nor colony leadership ever supplied us with such a list.”9 This is the pack’s only volume naming Arthur directly from the Sol-side investigatory mission’s own correspondence, rather than from colony-side administrative or cerebral records — and its only reference to Arthur being expected, as head of the colony AI suite, to be a channel through which such strategic contingency data would reach Sol.

Source-silent / open questions
- The pack contains no record of Arthur’s status after colony establishment — whether he remained operational, was taken offline, or was affected by the Anomaly. Source-silent.
- The UESC Security Briefing “rec. ARTHUR” is fragmentary; it is not established whether Arthur authored, recorded, or merely archived the transcript. The redacted subject of the briefing’s discussion is source-silent.
- Arthur’s Cerebral Record is explicitly incomplete (“artificial cerebral capture matrix = flawed · cerebral record = incomplete”) — what portions are missing is not stated2.
- No source in the pack describes Arthur’s direct response to, or interaction with, the Anomaly events that affected other colony AI (Darius, etc.).
- The attribution quote (“Everything must fit together. The success of the colony depends on it.”) is listed in the cerebral record but its original context or occasion is not given2.
- Distinction between Arthur (colony AI) and any human named Arthur: no human Arthur appears in the pack. This hub concerns the colony AI exclusively.
- Whether the Secondary Colonization Target list was ever compiled and simply not transmitted, or never compiled at all, is not established — the Sol-side letter confirms only that it was never received.9 Whether the list (or any record of one) survives in New Cascadia’s archives for the investigatory mission to recover is not addressed in the pack.
