OVERVIEW: ARACHNE is a registered 784s(g) spiritual group. ARACHNE is a fairly recent religion that was heavily influenced by early cryosleep space travel technology and saw a surge of interest during the staffing of the UESC MARATHON. Key beliefs include viewing sleep, cryosleep, and death as journeys that will ultimately lead believers and nonbelievers alike to salvation. To this end, ARACHNE devotees dedicate themselves to providing death (which they view as “the gift of silence”) through various means, including ritual combat.
As all deaths are considered progress toward salvation, consciousness uploads notwithstanding, RUNNERS are almost deified by ARACHNE. Their interest in TAU CETI IV seems largely due to the presence of the RUNNERS themselves rather than the planet’s resources.
